CMH is an arts-based wellness program that we launched in 2022. CMH offers Black youth ages 8-16 to come together and engage in mindfulness activities, relieve stress and enhance mental health and wellness. Participants get the opportunity to work with local artists to learn and explore creative Beading, Jewellery making, Painting, Hairdressing, Clay Arts, Self-Portraits, Tye-Dye, Crocheting, Knitting, Basic Sewing, Cooking & Baking lessons, Gardening etc.
SMH is a wellness program that we launched in 2022. SMH offers Black youth ages 8-16 to come together and engage in physical activities that enhance mental health and wellness. Participants engage in Afro Dance, Salsa Dance, Basketball, Swimming, Body Movement and Soccer activities.
This is a mindful space for teenagers and youth ages 8-16 to connect with peers, play games, explore various DIY and arts-based activities to enhance mental health and wellness. We also invite Child and Youth Workers (CYC), Social Workers, Mental Health workers and Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECE) to facilitate interactive conversations around Mental Health & Wellness, Goal Setting & Vision Boarding, Self-Care, Forming Helpful Relationships, Positioning for Academic Success etc.
Some of the available games and activities are Snooker Board, Air Hockey, Chess, Ludo, Mancala, Board Games, Afro-Themed Games, Spin & Win etc. The arts-based activities available include Hairdressing, Basic Sewing, Crocheting, Knitting, Beading, Painting, Mindfulness Jars, Tie-Dye, Clay Arts, Gratitude Banner etc.
All registered members can get monthly bus tickets, free hygiene products and free shopping at the AWYF Clothing Bank (if needed). Refreshments available at every session.
Our registered members are welcome to engage in creative DIY activities at the AWYF Community Centre during PA Days, March Break or Drop-in during our work hours. All creative materials will be provided.
